Headlines and Hot Takes and Outrage… Oh my! Are We seeing the Whole Picture
Or is our mind filling in what we can't see?
I don’t mean to mess up your perfectly sorted mental filing cabinet…
…but some of you are throwing entire human beings into the “trash” folder because of one disagreement.
And I get it. I really do.
Been there. Done that.
Burned a few bridges along the way that I wish I hadn't.
We’re living in a time where everything feels high stakes. Every issue feels like it matters (because many of them do). And when someone we’ve trusted takes a position we don’t like?
It can feel like betrayal.
But here’s the question we need to ask ourselves:
👉 Does disagreement today erase truth from yesterday?
Let’s Talk About A Few Examples
Take Tucker Carlson.
He helped expose the January 6th tapes when he was still on Fox News, a mainstream syndicate that unfortunately A LOT of people still follow.
At the time, he was the ONLY person on legacy media willing to talk about that. The footage he shared showed hundreds of people, if not thousands, walking through the Capitol on January 6th.
No chaos.
No destruction.
No one destroying property.
That mattered. It shifted narratives. It gave people more information.
Now? He’s asking questions about Israel that some people strongly disagree with.
And suddenly, for some… it’s:
“Forget everything he’s ever done.”
Really?
Same thing with Dan Bongino.
People appreciated his voice, his consistency, his willingness to speak boldly for years.
Now there are criticisms about how he handled his position with the FBI or how he’s re-entering podcasting. And I’ll admit, I’m one of them. I don’t trust him like I used to, and I have MANY questions that will likely never get answered.
…but that shouldn’t mean the scoreboard gets wiped clean.
Let Me Say This Like a Math Teacher
My third grader is learning about 3D shapes right now.
Cubes. Faces. Vertices.
A cube has 6 faces.
But here’s the thing…
👀 When your perspective is in 3D, you can’t see all six at the same time.
From one angle, you might see three faces.
From another angle, you’ll see a completely different three.
But just because you can’t see all six…
👉 doesn’t mean the other faces don’t exist.
People Are Not 2D Cutouts
We keep trying to flatten people into:
✔️ Good
❌ Bad
✔️ Right
❌ Wrong
✔️ With us
❌ Against us
But real life doesn’t work like that.
People are… multidimensional.
They make decisions based on information we don’t have, pressures we don’t see, and responsibilities we don’t carry.
That doesn’t mean they’re always right.
But it does mean:
👉 You might not be seeing the whole cube.
Discernment > Reaction
This is where maturity comes in.
Not blind loyalty.
Not blind rejection.
Discernment.
The ability to say:
“I appreciated what they did here.”
“I’m not sure I agree with them there.”
“I’m going to keep watching, learning, and evaluating.”
That’s not weakness.
That’s wisdom.
Because if you require someone to be right about everything…
You’re going to end up standing alone.
A Little Resurrection Weekend Perspective
This weekend, we remember something much bigger than politics, personalities, or podcasts.
We remember the ultimate act of sacrifice.
And we’re reminded of this truth from Proverbs 3:5-6:
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Because if we’re honest…
Our understanding is limited.
We see in part. We know in part. We judge in part.
But we are called to something higher.
👉 To acknowledge Him in all our ways.
👉 To trust that He sees the full picture.
👉 To believe that even when things feel chaotic… they are not out of His control.
The End of the Story Is Already Written
Here’s the part that should steady all of us:
We don’t have to panic every time someone disappoints us.
We don’t have to unravel every time there’s disagreement in the movement.
Because the end of the Book?
We win.
Not because we figured everything out perfectly…
…but because He did.
Final Thought
Before you write someone off completely…
Ask yourself:
👉 Am I reacting to one face of the cube… or have I taken the time to understand the whole shape?
And maybe—just maybe—
We’ll become the kind of people who are harder to manipulate…
harder to divide…
…and a whole lot more grounded in truth.

Mature and stable advice in our world of ever-changing views and perspectives. Thank you Toni.
Skepticism operates on steroids these days, and probably best that it does. As Reagan famously requoted, “trust but verify.” We need verifiable evidence for everything we consume anymore, because so much is smoke and mirrors with evil intent to redirect our focus. Not everything, but much of it.
But you are right, discernment is our best friend and one has to be able to differentiate good from bad, truth from lie. We’re glad you’re here to keep some sanity flowing for those who are lucky enough to have found your voice. 😊❤️
