Or a really frustrating one.

Across the country, voters headed to the polls, candidates won and lost, and social media quickly filled with the usual mix of celebration, outrage, analysis, and finger-pointing.

I’ve been around politics long enough now to recognize the cycle.

When our side wins, we’re tempted to think everything is finally getting fixed.

When our side loses, we’re tempted to think everything is hopeless.

The truth is a mixture of the two… because while elections absolutely matter, an election is not the end of the story.

Winning doesn’t mean our work is finished and losing doesn’t mean our work is over.

The election that matters most is not the one that just happened—it’s whether we’re still engaged when the next one arrives.

In fact, one of the reasons we find ourselves facing so many challenges today is because too many of us—including me—spent years assuming someone else was paying attention.

Before 2020, I was doing what so many moms do—raising my daughters, running a household, and trying to find a little breathing room in the middle of it all.

I wasn’t studying the Constitution or attending local meetings.

I couldn’t have explained the difference between the mayor and the county commissioner.

I certainly couldn’t have told you why the Founders structured our government the way they did.

And if I’m honest, I don’t think I was alone.

Millions of Americans gradually disengaged from the process, assuming our institutions would simply continue functioning without our involvement.

Then one day many of us woke up and realized we didn’t understand the system nearly as well as we thought we did.

That’s one reason I keep repeating a phrase that probably sounds like a broken record by now:

Education is key, and the fix is local.

That lesson showed up again in a powerful way during Week 3 of Constitution Alive.

This week we studied Article I of the Constitution and the branch our Founders expected to be the most powerful branch of government:

Congress.

Ironically, it may also be the branch Americans trust the least today.

Why Congress Comes First

The Constitution doesn’t begin with the President.

It doesn’t begin with the Supreme Court.

It begins with Congress.

That wasn’t accidental.

The Founders had just fought a revolution against concentrated power. They were deeply suspicious of kings and executives. They understood that power naturally expands unless it is restrained.

Their solution was to place lawmaking authority closest to the people.

Congress was given the power to write laws, control spending, regulate commerce, declare war, oversee the other branches, and represent the people.

In many ways, Congress was intended to be the engine of self-government.

Yet today, many Americans instinctively look to the President or the Supreme Court whenever something goes wrong.

The Founders expected us to look first to Congress.

Hamilton’s View of the Courts

One of the discussions Rick Green highlighted during class involved Alexander Hamilton and the Federalist Papers.

In Federalist No. 78, Hamilton described the judiciary as the “least dangerous” branch of government because it possessed neither the purse nor the sword.

Congress controls funding.

The Executive Branch enforces the law.

The courts simply issue judgments.

Hamilton believed this structure would prevent the judiciary from becoming too powerful.

But he also understood that judges are human beings.

Any branch of government can exceed its constitutional limits.

So what happens if judges begin exercising will instead of judgment?

What happens if courts move beyond interpreting laws and begin effectively creating them?

Hamilton pointed to several constitutional safeguards, but one of the most significant was impeachment.

The Constitutional Remedy Most Americans Don’t Know About

When most people hear the word impeachment, they immediately think of a President.

But impeachment was never intended to apply only to Presidents.

Federal judges can be impeached as well.

The Constitution grants the House of Representatives the sole power of impeachment, while the Senate has the sole power to conduct impeachment trials.

In other words, Congress was given a constitutional mechanism to address serious misconduct by federal officials, including judges.

Judges were granted independence.

They were not granted immunity from accountability.

Hamilton understood that no branch of government should exist without constitutional checks.

This is one reason the Speaker of the House occupies such an important position.

The Speaker leads the chamber that possesses the authority to initiate impeachment proceedings.

Whether that authority is used wisely is another question entirely.

The point is that the Founders did not leave us without remedies.

The Constitution Assumes Educated Citizens

One lesson keeps resurfacing throughout this class.

The Constitution assumes an informed citizenry.

It assumes citizens understand which branch does what and voters know where responsibility belongs.

It assumes the people will hold their representatives accountable.

When we don’t understand the structure, frustration naturally follows.

We blame Presidents for things Congress controls and courts for things legislators refuse to address.

We focus on Washington while ignoring what’s happening in our own communities.

And eventually many people reach the conclusion that nothing can be fixed.

Which brings me to what may be the most important lesson from this week’s class.

The Frustration Is Real

Let’s have a moment of truth.

A lot of Americans have lost faith in Congress.

Many people look at Washington and see endless spending, political theater, corruption, bureaucracy, and representatives who seem more interested in protecting their careers than serving the people.

Truthfully, I understand that feeling.

In many ways, I share it.

Today, while following election results and discussions on X, I saw that frustration on full display. Many of my friends in the J6 movement are growing weary, and I don’t blame them.

One person I know and follow closely is Derrick Evans from West Virginia. Another one is Brandon Straka from #WalkAway. Like many others, they’re becoming increasingly outspoken about what they see as a lack of accountability for those who weaponized government authority against ordinary citizens.

And honestly, I don’t blame them for being frustrated. FBI agents who hunted down innocent Americans still have their jobs. Prosecutors who pushed baseless charges still have jobs.

When President Trump returned to office, we expected that accountability would follow.

We thought the people responsible for weaponizing government would be exposed and that meaningful compensation would be provided to those whose lives were turned upside down.

And when efforts have been proposed only to run into resistance, delays, roadblocks, or outright opposition, it’s easy to understand why frustration continues to grow.

People begin asking:

“If even now nothing changes, will anything ever change?”

That’s a fair question.

In fact, history is filled with examples of people who justified bad decisions by saying:

“I’m just doing my job.”
“I’m just following orders.”
“I’m just enforcing the rules.”

My Firsthand Experience in Allegheny County

I was observing the mail-in ballot counting process and specifically watching election workers recreate ballots that had been damaged by the sorting machines.

Now, before anyone gets excited, recreating damaged ballots is a normal and legal part of the process.

That wasn’t the issue.

The issue was that I couldn’t actually see what they were doing.

Pennsylvania law allows observers to meaningfully observe the process, and from where I was standing, there was no meaningful observation taking place.

So I moved closer.

That’s when things got interesting.

Apparently, my desire to actually observe what I was there to observe created a bit of a problem.

I was told I wasn’t “allowed” in that area of the warehouse.

Security and lawyers showed up.

Suddenly voices were getting louder and a lot of attention was being directed toward a middle-aged mom who simply wanted to watch election workers do their jobs so that I could say I watched the process and it was legit.

At one point, the security made it clear that they were prepared to escort me out.

I remained calm even though my heart was racing.

I remained respectful even though I wanted to use choice language that I wouldn’t want my kids to hear.

And I declined to be intimidated, politely, when I wanted to throw a right hook instead.

But the part that has stayed with me wasn’t what happened inside the warehouse.

It was what happened afterward.

As I was leaving, a couple of the security officers who had been involved in the confrontation pulled me aside privately.

Here’s what they said:

“We agree with you.”
“We think you’re right.”
“But we’re just doing our jobs.

My jaw hit the ground and my heart started racing even faster than it had when I was in the warehouse mentally preparing to get handcuffed and escorted out.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

They AGREED with me.
They believed I had the RIGHT to be there.
They understood what I was saying.

Yet they were still willing to use their authority to prevent me from exercising a lawful right because someone higher up the chain told them to.

I remember walking away hoping they couldn’t see the fury on my face, and the more I thought about it, the more it bothered me.

Because that’s exactly how free societies slowly drift in the wrong direction.

Not usually because evil people take over.

More often because ordinary people convince themselves that their responsibility ends where someone else’s authority begins.

But successful self-government requires something more.

It requires conscience, wisdom, and moral courage.

Most of the time, the right thing to do isn’t easy. Choosing to stand on principle costs something and speaking the truth will likely make you unpopular.

Sometimes respecting authority means challenging authority when it exceeds its proper bounds.

That doesn’t mean being reckless or disrespectful.

And it certainly doesn’t mean abandoning the rule of law, but it does mean recognizing that morality matters.

Truth matters.
Character matters.
And courage matters.

That’s one reason I have so much respect for many of the J6 defendants I’ve gotten to know over the years.

Whether you agree with every decision they made or not, many paid an enormous personal price because they believed they were standing for something bigger than themselves.

Brandon and Derrick are understandably frustrated today. They’re losing hope that accountability will ever come, and I share their concern.

But I would encourage all of us not to let frustration become our identity.

The answer isn’t outrage and despair.

The answer is to educate more people, build stronger local communities, raise up citizens with courage and conviction.

And prepare the next generation to recognize the difference between lawful authority and blind obedience.

Because if history teaches us anything, it’s that free societies survive when ordinary people have the courage to stand on principle—even when it would be easier not to.

When power shifts again—and it inevitably will—we need more Americans who understand their rights, understand the Constitution, and have the courage to stand for what is right regardless of who occupies positions of authority.

When I look at Congress today, I don’t see an institution that’s going to be fixed overnight. Frankly, I think some of these problems have been building for decades.

But then I remind myself of something important.

We didn’t get here overnight and we’re not going to get out of it overnight either.

One of the mistakes many activists make is assuming that if we can’t immediately fix Washington, then nothing can be fixed at all.

The Founders would have disagreed.

The Fix Is Still Local

Maybe Congress feels too far gone and the federal bureaucracy feels impossible to reform.

But your local school board isn’t.

Your borough council and township supervisors aren’t.

Your county commissioners aren’t.

Your precinct committee and state party isn’t.

Those institutions are still accessible to ordinary citizens willing to learn, engage, and show up.

Healthy government begins closest to the people.

I’ll say it again.

Education is key, and the fix is local.

If we rebuild strong communities, informed citizens, accountable local government, and principled leadership at the local level, eventually those changes work their way upward.

Will it happen quickly?

Nope.

It may take a decade or more before we see the full impact.

But lasting change rarely happens overnight.

It happens one community at a time.
One county at a time.
One state at a time.

Why I’m Still Showing Up

In just a few weeks, I’ll attend my first meeting as a Pennsylvania State Committee member.

I’m excited, but I’m also realistic.

I have no illusions that I’m walking into a room where everyone suddenly agrees with me.

I don’t expect decades of problems to be solved in a weekend meeting.

Quite the opposite.

I expect it to be an uphill battle.

But that’s never been a good reason not to engage.

One of my favorite principles comes from John Quincy Adams:

“Duty is ours. Results are God’s.”

Our responsibility is not to guarantee success.

Our responsibility is to faithfully do the work in front of us.

That principle was echoed by another Founder whose words have become some of my favorites.

During this week’s lesson, Rick shared a quote from John Jay that stopped me in my tracks:

“The wise and the good never form the majority of any large society, and it seldom happens that their measures are uniformly adopted.”

Think about that for a moment.

John Jay understood human nature and politics.

He understood that doing the right thing would often be unpopular.

But he didn’t stop there.

He continued:

“All that wise and good men can do is to persevere in doing their duty to their country and leave the consequences to Him who made men only; neither elated by success, however great, nor discouraged by disappointments however frequent or mortifying.”

What a powerful reminder.

The work is difficult, the victories are often incomplete, and the setbacks can be discouraging.

But our duty remains the same.

Learn.
Engage.
Show up.

Serve.
Persevere.
And trust God with the results.

That’s how republics are preserved.

Not by people who are guaranteed success, but by people who continue doing their duty even when success is uncertain.

And perhaps that’s exactly the lesson America needs right now.

For many Americans, especially those outside the election integrity movement, Tina Peters is just another name in the headlines. But for those of us who have been involved in this movement for years, she has become one of its most recognizable figures.

I first heard of Tina Peters in August of 2021 when I attended Mike Lindell’s first Cyber Symposium in South Dakota.

At the time, I was still relatively new to the election integrity world, but Audit The Vote PA was really picking up steam as we had surpassed our goal of getting over 100,000 signatures on the petition in late June, early July. Our dinner with President Trump was all set up for the following week, but by and large, we were still relatively unknown.

I remember watching Tina on stage and hearing about what had happened in Mesa County, Colorado. I didn’t fully understand all the details then, but I remember thinking it was encouraging to see an elected election official willing to ask difficult questions about voting systems and willing to take personal risks in pursuit of answers.

Whether people agreed with her or not, she wasn’t acting like someone who was simply going along with the crowd.

She was asking questions.

And in a healthy republic, asking questions should never be a crime.

Meeting Tina

I eventually met Tina in person during the summer of 2023 when we both attended an election integrity event in California. By then, I had seen the documentary Selection Code, and Tina had already spent years at the center of a national controversy.

Regardless of where someone stood on the issues, it was impossible to ignore the toll the journey must have taken. For nearly two years, she had been scrutinized by the media, criticized by political opponents, navigating legal battles, and living with the uncertainty of what might happen next. Most people would have been exhausted.

Yet what struck me about Tina wasn’t anger or bitterness.

She seemed upbeat.

Determined.

Resolved.

She understood the pressure she was under, but she also seemed committed to continuing the fight for what she believed in, regardless of the personal cost.

Later that summer, I saw her again at Mike Lindell’s third Cyber Symposium. I even had an opportunity to have Tina briefly say hello to our Constitution Coaches on Patriot Academy’s weekly Coaches Corner call.

At the time, I genuinely did not believe she would ultimately end up in prison.

I assumed the legal system would sort through the facts and that any mistakes made would be weighed against the broader context of what had occurred.

I was wrong.

Education is key, and the fix is local.

At this point, my children could probably finish the sentence for me.

But the reason I keep repeating it is because over the last six years, I’ve only become more convinced that it’s true.

Lately though, I’ve been getting a different kind of question from people in the election integrity movement:

“Okay… now what?”

What do we do when major federal reform efforts stall out?
What do we do when court battles drag on for years?
What do we do when executive orders face constitutional limitations?
What do we do when people are exhausted, discouraged, or simply losing hope that anything will ever change?

Those are fair questions.

Many people were hopeful the SAVE Act would move quickly through Congress. Others were encouraged by President Trump’s executive order addressing issues like mail-in voting and voter verification.

But regardless of where people stand politically, there’s an important reality we have to understand:

Presidents don’t write laws.
Congress does.

Executive orders can direct how existing laws are enforced, but they are not meant to replace the legislative process itself. That means many of these larger national battles will likely continue playing out through Congress and the courts for quite some time.

Honestly, this is something Catherine Engelbrecht from True The Vote told me months ago when I asked her where she believed things were heading. She understood early on that waiting for one giant federal solution was probably unrealistic.

And while I absolutely understand why many people focus on Washington, D.C., I think one of the biggest mistakes grassroots movements can make is believing that national politics is the only place meaningful change happens.

Because while everyone is staring at Congress, local government continues operating every single day.

Share

County election offices continue functioning.
State legislatures continue meeting.
Local parties continue organizing.
Poll workers are still needed.
Judges of Elections are still elected.
County commissioners still make decisions.

Citizens can still attend meetings, ask questions, review processes, and become educated about how their own communities function.

That work still matters.

In fact, I would argue it matters more than ever.

But there’s another reality grassroots movements have to confront:

It is very difficult to stay engaged long term if you feel like you’re doing it alone.

Burnout is real.

I’ve watched so many good people become discouraged over the years because they thought change would happen quickly. And when it didn’t, many started to feel isolated or hopeless.

But lasting change rarely happens overnight.

It happens through consistent local involvement over time.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve come to appreciate the importance of community so much over the years.

Not outrage communities.
Not constant fear-based content.
Not endless doom scrolling.

Real community.

Places where people can learn, ask questions, compare notes, share ideas, and stay engaged without completely burning themselves out emotionally.

Every year, Memorial Day arrives with cookouts, parades, pool openings, and mattress sales.

Most Americans know the basic idea behind the holiday:
We honor those who died serving our country in war.

But far fewer people know why Memorial Day exists…
or how deeply connected it is to the story of America itself.

And honestly, I think that matters.

Because one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned over the last six years is this:

If we do not understand the past, we become incredibly easy to manipulate in the present.

People who do not know history are often forced to interpret current events through emotion, headlines, slogans, or political narratives instead of through wisdom and perspective.

That’s dangerous.

Understanding history gives context.
It sharpens discernment.
It helps us recognize propaganda.
And it reminds us that freedom has never been free.

That’s part of why Memorial Day matters so much.

The Origins of Memorial Day

Memorial Day did not originally start as a federal holiday.

After the Civil War — the deadliest war in American history — communities across the country began holding tributes for fallen soldiers.

The Civil War claimed more than 600,000 American lives.
Families were shattered.
Towns were devastated.
The nation itself was deeply fractured.

People desperately needed a way to grieve.

In the years following the war, citizens began decorating the graves of soldiers with flowers, wreaths, and flags.

That’s actually where the original name came from:

Decoration Day.

One of the earliest known observances took place in Charleston, South Carolina in 1865, where formerly enslaved Americans helped properly bury Union soldiers who had died in a Confederate prison camp.

Other communities across the country held similar tributes around the same time.

There is still debate today over which town held the “first” Memorial Day observance, but what matters most is why people did it.

Americans wanted to remember those who sacrificed everything for the country.

Not theoretically.
Not politically.
Personally.

By 1868, General John A. Logan officially called for a national day of remembrance on May 30th, specifically to decorate the graves of Civil War soldiers.

Over time, the holiday expanded to honor Americans who died in all wars.

After World War I especially, Memorial Day became a broader remembrance of military sacrifice across generations.

In 1971, it officially became a federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May.

A Nation That Forgets Sacrifice Eventually Loses Perspective

One thing I’ve noticed in modern America is that we often enjoy the benefits of freedom without stopping to think about the cost.

We inherited a country built by generations willing to sacrifice their comfort, their livelihoods, their reputations, and sometimes their lives.

And the farther we get removed from hardship and sacrifice, the easier it becomes to take liberty for granted.

That’s not criticism.
It’s just human nature.

But history helps correct that.

When you study the past, you realize America has endured incredibly difficult seasons before. We’ve had war, division, and economic collapse. We’ve seen political corruption and foreign threats… internal battles and cultural upheaval.

Yet generation after generation rose to meet those moments.

Not because they were perfect.
But because ordinary people chose duty over comfort.

That perspective is incredibly grounding in today’s political climate.

Why Historical Understanding Matters Today

One of the reasons I spend so much time teaching history, civics, and the Constitution is because understanding the past helps us interpret the present more wisely.

Without historical context:

• fear becomes easier to manufacture

• propaganda becomes harder to recognize

• emotional manipulation becomes more effective

• and people become more willing to surrender freedom for the promise of safety or comfort

History gives us reference points.

It reminds us that media narratives are not new.
Political division is not new.
Corruption is not new.
Foreign conflicts are not new.
Government overreach is not new.

Neither is courage.

Neither is faith.

Neither is the power of ordinary people deciding to stand up locally and lead within their own communities.

That’s why I often say:

Education is key, and the fix is local.

Because preserving liberty requires an informed citizenry.

The Founders understood that.
And frankly, many Americans throughout history understood that better than we do today.

Memorial Day Should Challenge Us

I think Memorial Day should be more than a day off work.

It should challenge us to ask difficult questions:

• Are we being good stewards of the freedom others died to preserve?

• Are we educating the next generation well?

• Do we understand the principles that hold a constitutional republic together?

• Are we honoring sacrifice merely with words, or with responsible citizenship?

And maybe most importantly:

Will our children inherit a stronger republic because we were here?

That question matters.

Because every generation eventually faces its own defining moments.

Our grandparents faced World War II.
Our parents faced Vietnam.
We faced 9/11 and COVID.

And the next generation will face its own tests too.

When those moments come, emotional reactions alone will not be enough.

We need wisdom, discernment, and historical perspective.

We need strong local communities, faith, leadership, and courage.

Remembering the Cost of Freedom

This Memorial Day, I hope we remember the fallen.

But I also hope we remember why remembering matters.

A nation disconnected from its history becomes vulnerable.

A nation that forgets sacrifice loses gratitude.

And a people who no longer understand liberty often fail to recognize when they are losing it.

So enjoy the cookouts.
Spend time with family.
Wave the flags.

But also take a moment to learn.
Reflect.
Teach your children.
Read history.
Visit a memorial.
Ask questions.

Because understanding the past may be one of the most important tools we have for protecting the future.

And perhaps one of the best ways we can honor those who gave everything for this country…
is by becoming citizens worthy of their sacrifice.

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who voted for me, encouraged me, shared my posts, prayed for me, or simply believed in me enough to support this next step. I truly mean that.

Ironically, while votes were being counted back home in Pennsylvania, I was sitting in Texas at a Patriot Academy staff retreat after voting early before my trip. Throughout the day, I found myself checking my social media for updates… mostly in between meetings and conversations about leadership, grassroots engagement, and the future of the conservative movement.

In many ways, it felt fitting.

Because what happened yesterday wasn’t just about one local race in one county. Across the country, conservatives were watching a much bigger story unfold.

Some results left people excited and hopeful. Others left many disappointed and frustrated. I can honestly say I am feeling all of the above.

A lot of conservatives, me included, are discouraged over Thomas Massie being unseated. At the same time, many grassroots activists, me included again, celebrated seeing Brad Raffensperger primaried out in Georgia after years of controversy surrounding his dreadful role in the 2020 election heist.

And that mix of emotions says a lot about where the grassroots movement is right now.

People are engaged.
People are paying attention.
And maybe most importantly, people are realizing that local and state politics matter far more than many of us were ever taught.

That brings me back to State Committee.

Over the last 24 hours, I’ve had several people ask me the same question:

“What exactly does a State Committee member do?”

State Committee members help shape the direction of the political party at the state level. They vote on party leadership, participate in internal party decisions, help organize efforts locally, and serve as a bridge between the grassroots and party leadership.

It’s not the flashy side of politics.

Most people will never watch a State Committee meeting on television.
There are no dramatic campaign ads about it.
And most voters walk into the polls without realizing those names even appear on the ballot.

But these roles matter.

They matter because parties are ultimately built from the bottom up — county by county, precinct by precinct, neighborhood by neighborhood.

For years, many Americans focused almost entirely on presidential politics while ignoring the local infrastructure that actually shapes candidate recruitment, messaging, election operations, and community engagement.

That’s changing now.

But one thing that deeply concerned me yesterday was voter turnout.

Pennsylvania’s Republican turnout was incredibly low, and that should concern everyone regardless of which faction of the Republican Party they identify with.

If we want to have any real chance of success heading into the midterms, we cannot afford widespread voter disengagement — especially in primary elections.

Primaries are where grassroots voters have the greatest opportunity to shape the direction of the party.

They are where incumbents can be challenged.
Where new voices can emerge.
And where voters can hold elected officials accountable when they feel their concerns are no longer being represented.

One race I watched particularly closely was Senator Camera Bartolotta’s primary challenge from Al Buchtan.

I’ve had my issues with Senator Bartolotta over the years (or Senator Porn Star as I affectionately call her) and I was personally interested in seeing a competitive challenge in that race. But what stood out to me wasn’t simply the result — it was the amount of institutional force brought in to protect incumbency.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars were spent.
Mailers were sent attacking the challenger.
Even the State Party became involved.

Whether you agreed with the challenger or not, I think Republicans should seriously reflect on whether party resources should be used to intervene in primaries against grassroots challengers. And I WILL make my voice heard on that matter at my first State Committee meeting this summer.

Because if voters begin to feel that outcomes are predetermined by money, party infrastructure, and insider influence, many will simply disengage altogether.

And that is a dangerous place for any political movement to be.

The grassroots movement is strongest when ordinary people believe their participation actually matters.

That means we need more engagement, not less.
More informed voters.
More local involvement.
And far greater turnout in off-year and primary elections.

Because by the time the general election arrives, many of the most important decisions have already been made.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the last six years is this:

The fix is local.

Real influence doesn’t just happen in Washington, D.C.

It happens at school board meetings.
County commissioner meetings.
Local committees.
Grassroots organizations.
State parties.
Churches.
Classrooms.
And dinner tables.

It happens when ordinary people consistently decide to show up.

That’s part of why this trip to Texas felt so meaningful too. Over the last two days, I’ve had conversations with people from all over the country who are asking the same questions many of us are asking in Pennsylvania:

How do we rebuild healthy communities?
How do we raise courageous kids?
How do we stay engaged without burning out?
How do we create lasting change instead of just reacting emotionally to headlines every day?

Another important thing I’ve learned is that none of this can be sustained alone.

People need community.
They need education.
They need encouragement.
And they need other grounded, informed people who are willing to stay engaged locally without getting consumed by the outrage cycle.

That’s one reason I continue encouraging people to get involved with the True The Vote Now community and other local grassroots organizations. Whether your passion is election integrity, Constitution education, local government, or simply learning how the process actually works, finding a healthy community of engaged citizens matters.

Because isolated people burn out.
Connected people build.

But those are all bigger questions than one election.

And honestly, that perspective helped me yesterday as I was watching the results I didn’t like come in.

Of course, every candidate wants to perform well. I’m human too. But leadership maturity means learning not to measure your value entirely by vote totals, social media metrics, or public recognition.

Movements are built slowly.
Trust is built slowly.
Influence is built slowly.

And sometimes the most important work happens quietly, behind the scenes, long before anyone notices.

So today, I’m grateful.

Grateful for everyone who supported me.
Grateful for the opportunity to serve.
Grateful for the people across this country who still care enough to stay engaged locally.
And grateful to be part of a movement that is still very much alive.

The older I get, the more I realize that saving the Republic was never going to happen through one election cycle, one viral moment, or one personality.

It happens when ordinary people decide to faithfully keep building — one community at a time.

I believed I was voting for putting America first again — for making everyday life more affordable for people willing to work hard and build a future for their families.

I believed I was voting for NO MORE foreign wars, fewer foreign entanglements, and an end to the endless global conflicts that always seem to benefit powerful interests while ordinary people carry the cost.

I believed I was voting for an outright dismantling of federal agencies that were never constitutional in the first place — sprawling bureaucracies filled with unelected officials who often hold more real influence over policy than the representatives Americans actually vote for.

Most of all, I believed I was voting for transparency and accountability for those who orchestrated the largest election heist our country has ever known.

But due to the way things have unfolded since January of 2025, I now find myself wrestling with a very uncomfortable tension:

How can things feel simultaneously better in some ways… and deeply uncertain or just downright wrong in others?

That’s the part I think many people are afraid to say out loud right now.

Because in today’s political climate, the moment you ask questions, people immediately try to sort you into camps:

“You’re either loyal or disloyal.”
“You either trust the plan, or you’ve turned against the movement.”

But Saving the Republic and Rebuilding Liberty require something more difficult than blind agreement or constant outrage.

It requires discernment.

It requires the willingness to ask hard questions without immediately falling into cynicism or panic.

And honestly, I think many Americans are trying to figure out what that middle ground even looks like right now.

My youngest daughter is now 8 years old. She weighs less than 50 pounds soaking wet but is feisty as all get out.

Now, I want you to think about something.

She was only 2½ when COVID happened… still in diapers, still throwing temper tantrums, and still attached to my hip.

She doesn’t remember what life in America felt like before 2020.

She doesn’t remember a world before lockdowns.
Before masks.
Before “non-essential” businesses.
Before church closures.
Before government officials deciding whose jobs mattered and whose freedoms could be suspended “for safety.”

To her generation, this is normal history.

And that realization hit me hard recently as I started hearing rumblings again…

Another virus. (hantavirus?)
More “recommendations.”
Talk of masks.

Whether those rumors materialize or not, one thing is certain:
Every generation faces defining moments.

My grandparents had Pearl Harbor.
My parents had JFK.
My generation has 9/11.

And history tells us there will be more moments ahead that test freedom, courage, discernment, and the ability of citizens to govern themselves wisely.

That’s exactly why learning the Constitution matters.

Not because we want to live in fear.
Not because we want to live angry.
But because an uninformed population is easy to control.

For some, it’s joyful—full of flowers, brunch reservations, handmade cards, and sweet phone calls.

But for others… it’s complicated.

And I think we need to talk about that.

Because not everyone is waking up to a “Happy Mother’s Day” text.
Not everyone is celebrating.
And not everyone even wants to get out of bed.

Where Mother’s Day Came From

Mother’s Day, as we know it today, was started by Anna Jarvis in the early 1900s. She wanted to honor her own mother—a woman who had spent her life serving others and strengthening her community.

It was meant to be personal.
Intentional.
Heartfelt.

Not commercial. Not performative.

In fact, Anna Jarvis later spent years fighting against what the holiday had become—because she believed it had lost its meaning.

And in a way… I think we’re still trying to find that meaning.

The Other Side of Mother’s Day

Because here’s the truth:

Mother’s Day can be incredibly painful.

Maybe you’ve lost your mom.
Maybe your relationship with her is strained or broken.
Maybe you never had the kind of mom others seem to celebrate.

Or maybe this is your first Mother’s Day without her.

And everything feels different.

If This Is Your First Mother’s Day Without Her

You might not want to do anything.

You might not want to celebrate.
You might not want to be around people.
You might not even want to get out of bed.

And I want you to hear this clearly:

That’s okay.

There is no “right way” to grieve.

There is no timeline you have to follow.
No expectation you have to meet.

If all you do today is breathe… you made it through the day.

And that counts.

If This Is Your Second or Third

You might start to realize something you didn’t expect:

You can survive this day.

It still hurts.
It still feels off.
But it doesn’t knock you down the way it did at first.

You might find yourself smiling at a memory… and then crying right after.

You might feel a little stronger—but also a little surprised by how much you still miss her.

That’s normal too.

Grief doesn’t disappear.
It just changes shape.

If It’s Been Years

Five years.
Ten years.
Maybe more.

You know now—you can make it through Mother’s Day.

But there’s something else that comes with time…

A bittersweet weight.

Because every year without her is also a year further away from her.

And at the same time… it’s a year filled with memories she didn’t get to be part of.

Milestones.
Moments.
Little things you wish you could share.

And somehow, those memories don’t make it easier.

They make it deeper.

This is my fourth Mother’s Day without my mom.

And the truth is… I miss her more with each passing year.

Not less.

More.

Because with every year that goes by, there are more moments she isn’t here for. More things I wish I could tell her. More memories I wish she could be part of.

But there’s something else I’ve learned along the way.

In the darkest moments of grief, I learned to seek the Lord in a way I never had before.

And what I’ve found is this:

He meets me there.

Not always by taking the pain away—but by placing the right people in my life at just the right time… in just the right season.

People who remind me of the very best parts of her.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I met a woman at my local county committee meeting.

She’s 77—the exact age my mom would have turned this June.

She’s tiny. Blonde. Loves Jesus with her whole heart. And she has this feisty little spirit that I felt drawn to immediately.

As we started talking, she shared that she became a widow four years ago.

And as she spoke… I realized I wasn’t just listening to her story.

I was watching my mom’s story unfold all over again.

I didn’t say anything that day.

But today, at a political rally, I helped her sign up to host a Biblical Citizenship class.

And as I walked her through it… I couldn’t hold back the tears.

Because in that moment, it hit me:

God’s timing is perfect.

Not always in the way we would choose.

But always through His lens.

As my husband and I head into this Mother’s Day, telling stories to our girls about the grandmothers they don’t get to know…

I’m reminded of something I didn’t understand early on in my grief:

God, in His goodness, brings people into our lives who reflect the very best of the ones we’ve lost.

Not to replace them.

But to remind us of what we were given.

And somehow… that makes the weight just a little more bearable.

What Do You Do With That?

This is the part no one really tells you.

You don’t “fix” it.

You don’t tie it up in a neat bow and move on.

You carry it.

But you learn how to carry it differently.

Maybe today looks like:

• Sitting quietly with your memories

• Looking through old pictures

• Making one of her recipes

• Talking about her with someone who knew her

• Or just giving yourself permission to feel whatever comes up

And maybe it looks like doing nothing at all.

There’s no formula.

If Your Relationship Was Complicated

This part matters too.

Not everyone had a mother they can easily celebrate.

And that brings its own kind of grief.

Grief for what was.
Grief for what wasn’t.
Grief for what you wish it could have been.

If that’s you, I want to say this gently:

You are allowed to acknowledge the pain without pretending something was perfect when it wasn’t.

And you are allowed to define what this day means for you.

Maybe today isn’t about celebrating your mom.

Maybe it’s about:

• Breaking cycles

• Becoming the kind of parent you didn’t have

• Or simply recognizing your own strength

That matters too.

A Different Way to See the Day

Maybe Mother’s Day doesn’t have to be one thing.

Maybe it can be:

A day to honor
A day to grieve
A day to remember
A day to rest

Or a mix of all of the above.

Final Thought

If today is heavy for you, you’re not alone.

If you feel okay one minute and overwhelmed the next, that’s normal.

If you’re still figuring out how to navigate this day… that’s okay too.

You don’t have to force joy.
You don’t have to meet expectations.
You don’t have to do it the way anyone else does.

Just take the day as it comes.

And if all you do is make it through…

That’s enough.

“Is this even constitutional?”

Confusion.
A little bit of “what just happened?”

Because the GOP made early endorsements for Governor and Lieutenant Governor…

And for many people, it felt like the primary was decided before it even began.

I’ve heard it over and over:

“How is anyone else supposed to have a chance now?”

And naturally, that leads to a bigger question, which I got this week from someone who attended my April 25th event:

“Is that even constitutional?”

I had the same gut reaction

If I’m being honest…

My initial response was probably similar to yours.

I don’t agree with early endorsements in primaries.

I wouldn’t have voted for this one.

And I completely understand why people feel like it shuts the door on other candidates before voters ever get a real say.

But then I stepped back and asked a different question:

👉 What does the Constitution actually say about this?

Here’s the part that surprises most people

The Constitution says…

Nothing.

Political parties are not mentioned. Not once.

The rest of this breakdown—including how we got here, why it matters for Pennsylvania, and what we can actually do about it—is for my paid subscribers.

Not in the original document.
Not in the amendments.

Which means something really important:

👉 Political parties are not a constitutional institution.

They’re something we built on top of the system.

That wasn’t the original plan

In fact, the Founders were deeply wary of what they called “factions.”

James Madison warned in Federalist No. 10 that organized groups could pursue their own interests over the good of the country.

And George Washington didn’t mince words in his farewell address—he warned political parties would lead to division and power struggles.

And yet…

That’s exactly where we are.

How we got here

Political parties formed almost immediately anyway.

• Alexander Hamilton and the Federalists

• Thomas Jefferson and the Democratic-Republicans

What started as loose ideological alliances eventually became the highly structured party system we have today.

But here’s the key:

👉 They developed outside the Constitution—not because of it.

So what does that mean for early endorsements?

Legally speaking, political parties are considered private organizations.

Which means they have First Amendment rights like:

• Free speech

• Freedom of association

So yes…

✔️ They can endorse candidates
✔️ They can do it early
✔️ They can try to influence the outcome

Even in a primary.

And yet… it still feels off

Because primaries aren’t purely private.

They’re:

• Run by the state

• Funded by taxpayers

• Used to determine who appears on the ballot

So, when a party makes an early endorsement, it creates a very real tension:

“If this is a public election… why does it feel like the outcome is being shaped before voters ever weigh in?”

That frustration is valid.

But it’s not necessarily unconstitutional.

It’s a reflection of how the system is structured.

Here’s where my perspective shifted

I still don’t love early endorsements in primaries.

That hasn’t changed.

But I’ve also realized something important:

👉 These decisions are often more nuanced than they appear from the outside.

There are factors most of us don’t see:

• Strategic considerations

• Candidate viability

• Timing pressures

• Internal party dynamics

That doesn’t mean we have to agree with the decision.

But it does mean we should be careful about assuming it was simple—or malicious.

Because the truth is…

There are no perfect solutions.

Only decisions made in real time…
With imperfect information…
By imperfect people.

And hindsight?

Hindsight is always 20/20.

So what do we do with that?

We stay engaged.

We ask questions.

We learn how the system actually works instead of just reacting to it.

And we decide—individually and locally—how we want to influence it moving forward.

“Duty is ours. Results are God’s.”

We don’t control every decision that gets made inside party structures.

But we do control how we respond.
How we engage.
How we lead in our own communities.

And here’s what that means for me

Complaining doesn’t fix the system.

Getting involved does.

That’s why I’m running for State Committee.

They feel disconnected.
They feel unheard.
They feel like decisions are being made somewhere far away… by people they’ve never met.

And then I ask a simple question:

“Do you know how your local party is actually structured?”

Most people don’t.

And that’s not a criticism—it’s a reality.

Because somewhere along the way, we stopped teaching people how the system actually works.

So, before I tell you what I’m doing…

Let me show you something that will change how you see all of it.

The Three Roles Everyone Confuses

When people hear terms like committee person or state committee, they tend to lump everything together.

But these are very different roles, and understanding the difference matters more than you might think.

First—What Is a Committee Person (and Why It Matters)

When I first started paying closer attention in early 2021, this was one of the biggest lightbulb moments for me.

I remember realizing that there were already established groups—right at the local level—where ordinary people could actually show up, get involved, and make a difference.

That changed everything.

Because for the first time, it didn’t feel like politics was something happening “out there.”

It felt like something we could step into.

That’s what a committee person is.

A committee person is someone who represents their local voting precinct within the party structure. They are the most direct connection between everyday voters and the party itself.

They help:

• Share information

• Turn out voters

• Stay connected to what’s happening locally

• Be a voice for their community

👉 It’s one of the most accessible—and most overlooked—ways to get involved.

Now I’ll be honest…

As I got more involved, I also started to see the other side of it.

The roadblocks.
The pushback.
The moments where it felt like nothing was moving the way it should.

And that can be discouraging.

But over time, I found a balance.

Because the reality is this:

👉 We will always feel discouraged when things don’t go our way.

But if we give up…

That’s the fastest way to guarantee that nothing good happens at all.

And that’s why I still believe this with everything I’ve seen:

👉 The local level will ALWAYS be the best place to start.

1. Precinct (or District) Committee Person

This is the most local level—the grassroots.

These are the people who:

• Represent a specific voting precinct

• Help turn out voters

• Share information within their community

• Serve as the connection between voters and the party

This is the front line.

2. County Committee

This is the organizational level.

County committees:

• Coordinate efforts across precincts

• Recruit and support candidates

• Help shape messaging locally

• Keep the party functioning at the county level

They are the bridge between grassroots volunteers and broader leadership.

3. State Committee

This is where things shift from activity… to influence.

The State Committee:

• Helps set the direction of the party statewide

• Votes on party leadership (including the Chair)

• Influences rules, priorities, and strategy

• Represents the voice of each region

👉 This is about who has a seat at the table when decisions are made.

Why This Matters More Than You Think

If we don’t understand the structure…

We don’t understand where decisions are being made.

And if we don’t know where decisions are being made…

We don’t know where to show up, ask questions, or hold people accountable.

A Real Example: The 2025 Chair Election

Many of you remember the controversy in 2025 when a new state party chair was selected.

That decision didn’t come from voters in a primary.

It came from the State Committee.

And that moment clarified something important for me.

The individual chosen is a State Senator…

But back in 2021—when we launched the Audit The Vote petition and thousands of Pennsylvanians were asking for transparency—

He was serving in the House.

And despite the momentum…
Despite the grassroots effort…

👉 He never surfaced as a supporter.
👉 He never signed the petition.

Now, that alone doesn’t define a person.

But it does raise a very real question:

Who is representing the grassroots voice when these decisions are being made?

Why I’m Stepping Into This Role

Over the last several years, I’ve worked alongside many of you:

• Training and equipping citizens through Patriot Academy

• Organizing locally through Audit The Vote PA

• Showing up to meetings, events, and conversations that aren’t always easy

And I’ve seen something clearly:

There are good people throughout the system.

But there is often a gap between:

• What the grassroots is asking for

• And what is actually being acted on

That gap doesn’t fix itself.

It gets smaller when people who understand both sides step in.

What Happens on May 19th

Pennsylvania’s primary election is on May 19th.

And in Beaver County, there are five State Committee seats and five candidates running.

👉 That means I will be stepping into this role following the primary.

But I don’t take that lightly.

Because this isn’t about holding a title.

It’s about stepping into a position that has real influence—and using it to represent the people who have been doing the work on the ground.

What I Bring to the Table

• A direct connection to grassroots activists across Pennsylvania

• Experience training and equipping leaders through Patriot Academy

• A track record of showing up—even when it’s uncomfortable

• A commitment to transparency, accountability, and education

I’m not interested in sitting on the sidelines.

And I’m not interested in complaining without stepping into responsibility.

A Simple Challenge for You

Before May 19th, take 10 minutes and find out:

• Who your precinct committee person is

• Who serves on your county committee

• Who represents you on the state committee

Because once you know that…

👉 You’re no longer on the outside looking in.

We talk a lot about “taking our country back.”

But that doesn’t happen all at once.

It happens step by step.
Seat by seat.
Decision by decision.

And sometimes…

It starts with simply understanding a system most people were never taught.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled that Cast Vote Records (CVRs) are public records under the state’s Right-to-Know Law.

That’s a big win for transparency.

But like most things in election law, the headlines don’t tell the full story.

Let’s walk through this in a way that actually makes sense

First: What Are CVRs?

A Cast Vote Record (CVR) is a digital record created by a voting machine that shows how a ballot was interpreted.

Think of it like this:

👉 If a ballot is the paper vote,
👉 A CVR is the machine’s readout of that vote.

It’s data about the ballot, not the ballot itself.

What the Court Actually Ruled

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court said:

➡️ CVRs fall under the Right-to-Know Law
➡️ That means they are public records
➡️ And they can be requested and reviewed by citizens

This decision overturned a prior Commonwealth Court ruling that said CVRs should not be released.

So this wasn’t just a clarification—it was a reversal.

Why This Matters

At its core, this decision comes down to one thing:

Transparency.

When data about our elections is accessible, it allows:

• Independent analysis

• Verification efforts

• Greater public confidence

• More informed conversations

It doesn’t solve every problem—but it gives us more visibility into the process.

And visibility matters.

Let’s Clear Up a BIG Misunderstanding

One of the most important parts of this conversation:

CVRs are NOT ballots

Your ballot is still:

• ✅ Private

• ✅ Protected by law

• ✅ Anonymous

The court did not say ballots are public.

What is public is the data generated by machines about how ballots were read.

What CVRs Can (and Can’t) Do

This is where we need to stay grounded and honest.

What CVRs CAN do:

• Show voting patterns

• Track the order/timing ballots were scanned

• Help identify statistical anomalies

• Support deeper audits and analysis

What CVRs CANNOT do:

• Detect forged ballots

• Verify who a voter is

• Prove fraud on their own

That last one is key.

CVRs are a tool—not a conclusion.

A Simple Way to Think About It

Think of CVRs like a financial transaction log.

If something looks off in your bank account, the log helps you:

👉 Spot unusual activity
👉 Identify patterns
👉 Decide where to investigate further

But the log itself doesn’t prove fraud—it just points you in a direction.

That’s exactly how CVRs function in elections.

How We Got Here

This case didn’t happen overnight.

Here’s the simplified path:

1. A request for CVRs was filed in Lycoming County

2. A lower court said: Release the records

3. The Commonwealth Court said: Do NOT release them

4. The PA Supreme Court stepped in and ruled:
   👉 CVRs ARE public records

And that’s now the controlling decision.

What This Does NOT Mean

Let’s address a concern I know many people have:

“Does this mean voter information is being handed over?”

No.

• CVRs do not include voter identity

• Voter records are still protected under separate laws

• This ruling is about election data access, not personal information

  

The Bottom Line

This decision is a meaningful step forward for transparency in Pennsylvania elections.

• More access → more accountability

• More visibility → more informed citizens

• More understanding → better conversations

But with that comes responsibility.

We have to use this information wisely.

Not to jump to conclusions…
But to ask better questions.

Where We Go From Here

This is where your role matters.

Transparency only works if people:

• Pay attention

• Learn how the system works

• Engage at the local level

Because at the end of the day:

👉 Election data belongs to the people
👉 But it’s up to the people to understand it

You knew where people stood. They knew where you stood.
But it didn’t define every interaction.

Then 2020 happened.

And suddenly, everything that had been simmering… boiled over.

Conversations turned into arguments.
Disagreements turned into distance.
And for many of us, relationships that once felt easy became… complicated.

Families stopped talking.
Friendships fractured.
And even now—years later—we’re still feeling the ripple effects.

A Personal Realization

This isn’t just something I’ve observed.

It’s something I’ve lived.

Like many of you, we had disagreements within our own family during COVID. Strong ones. The kind that don’t just stay in the realm of “ideas,” but start to affect the relationship itself.

For a season, it created distance.

And if I’m being honest, at the time, I cared a lot about being right. About making the case. About helping them see things the way I saw them.

But when the emotion settled… and I could think a little more clearly… something shifted.

I realized something I didn’t expect:

Maintaining the relationship was more important—and more impactful—than winning the argument.

That didn’t mean I changed my convictions.

It meant I changed my priority.

And over time, that decision has mattered.

Things aren’t exactly the way they used to be—but they’re better.
There’s less distance.
More respect.
And a willingness to coexist, even with real differences.

And honestly… that’s a win.

What Do We Do Now?

This was actually one of the most meaningful parts of what we talked about together on April 25th.

Because let’s face it—this isn’t theoretical.

Every person reading this has someone in their life they’ve felt this tension with.

So the question becomes:

What do we do with the people who see the world differently than we do?

Here are the three things I shared that day.

1. Love Them Anyway

We’re called to “love thy neighbor.” Not when it’s easy. Not when we agree.

Just… love them.

And love is not the same as agreement.

It doesn’t mean affirming choices or opinions you believe are wrong. It doesn’t mean compromising your convictions.

It means choosing to treat people with dignity anyway.

It means remembering who they are beyond the disagreement.

Because if we reduce people to their opinions, we lose the relationship before we even have the conversation.

2. Ask Questions (and Actually Listen)

If your goal is to influence someone—not just argue with them—you have to understand them first.

And that starts with questions.

Not “gotcha” questions. Not questions designed to trap or prove a point.

But real, honest curiosity:

• How did you come to that conclusion?

• What experiences shaped your perspective?

• What concerns you most about this?

And then… listen.

Not to respond.
Not to win.
But to understand.

Because people are far more open to hearing you when they feel heard first.

3. Find Common Ground

This is where things begin to rebuild.

Because even when people disagree strongly on solutions, they often share similar values underneath.

Family.
Safety.
Freedom.
Opportunity.

When you find that overlap—even a small piece of it—you create a starting point.

A place to stand together instead of across from each other.

And from there, trust begins to grow again.

This Isn’t About “Winning”

We all feel it—that pull to prove our point.

But if winning the argument costs you the relationship…

Was it really worth it?

We’re living in a time where division is easy—and even rewarded.

But unity?

Unity takes intention.

It takes restraint.
It takes humility.
And sometimes it means choosing the relationship… even when you strongly disagree.

Why This Matters More Than Ever

If we’re going to rebuild anything meaningful in this country, it’s not just going to come from policies or elections.

It’s going to come from people.

From relationships that didn’t break—even when they were strained.
From conversations that stayed open—even when they were hard.
From individuals who chose connection over division.

That’s the kind of work that doesn’t always get attention…

But it’s the kind that actually holds everything together.

When Sprinting Turns Into Stumbling

Here’s the reality no one likes to admit:

You can’t sprint forever.

And many people have been operating in “emergency mode” for four straight years.

That kind of pace isn’t sustainable—and when the urgency begins to ease, it creates something unexpected:

Not peace…

But disorientation.

Because if everything isn’t on fire anymore…

Then what are we supposed to do?

Some people cope by doubling down—staying in outrage mode, constantly reacting, constantly posting, constantly pushing.

Others swing the opposite direction—completely disengaging, retreating into normal life as if the last few years didn’t happen.

But what if neither of those is the answer?

What if the real path forward is found somewhere in the middle?

A Better Framework: The 2–2–2 Principle

One of the most practical frameworks I’ve seen for this season comes from Rick Green through Patriot Academy's Rebuilding Liberty course.

It’s rooted in the final words of the Declaration of Independence:

“We mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

That sounds big—and it is.

But Rick breaks it down into something sustainable for everyday life:

2 hours a week of your time
2% of your income
2 times a week putting your reputation on the line

Not all-in burnout.

Not total disengagement.

Just faithful, consistent investment.

And here’s the beauty of it:

Anyone can do this.

What 2 Hours a Week Actually Looks Like

This isn’t about becoming a full-time activist.

It’s about being an engaged citizen.

Two hours a week could look like:

• Attending a school board or city council meeting

• Watching (and actually understanding) a piece of legislation in your state

• Volunteering behind the scenes for a local campaign or organization

• Hosting or participating in a Constitution class through Patriot Academy

• Helping organize an event in your community

• Making phone calls or sending emails that actually move something forward

It’s not flashy.

But it’s effective.

Because real change doesn’t happen in viral moments.

It happens in consistent, local presence.

What 2% of Your Income Means

Let’s talk about the part most people avoid.

Your “fortune.”

This isn’t about writing massive checks.

It’s about being intentional.

What would it look like to budget for the things you say matter?

That could mean:

• Supporting a candidate who actually reflects your values

• Giving to organizations doing real, measurable work

• Investing in training programs that equip the next generation of leaders

• Funding efforts that increase transparency and accountability

We spend money on what we value.

Two Moments of Courage Each Week

This might be the hardest one.

Your “sacred honor.”

Putting your reputation on the line doesn’t mean being obnoxious or combative.

It means being willing to:

Ask thoughtful questions when something doesn’t make sense

Speak truth with clarity and respect

Refuse to go along with something just because it’s popular

Share information that helps others think—not just react

Sometimes that happens on social media.

Sometimes it happens in a conversation at church, at work, or around your dinner table.

It’s not about being loud.

It’s about being willing.

Finding Your New Normal

Here’s the truth:

When COVID first hit, I HATED that phrase…

like ‘hair on the back of my neck standing up’ hatred. But I’ve realized something over time.

We were never meant to live in constant crisis mode.

But we weren’t meant to go back to sleep either, and there actually IS a middle ground.

A place where:

You stay engaged without burning out
You stay informed without being consumed
You take action without losing your peace

That’s where real, lasting impact happens.

Not in the spikes of emotion…

But in the steady rhythm of responsibility.

You Still Have a Role to Play

A single decision.
A single document.
A single act of courage.

But that’s not how it happened.

Not even close.

Just a few nights ago, I spoke at a Lincoln Day Dinner in Armstrong County, stood in front of a room full of people, and talked about something that often gets overlooked in our telling of the American story:

👉 Pennsylvania didn’t just participate in independence…

…it helped decide it.

Standing in that room, talking through the tension, the uncertainty, and the responsibility those delegates carried…

I couldn’t help but think:

👉 They didn’t know how the story would end.

They were making decisions in real time—under pressure, with incomplete information, and with everything on the line.

And yet… they acted anyway.

The vote for independence wasn’t unanimous at first. Colonies were divided. Delegates were hesitant. The outcome was uncertain.

And one of the most pivotal moments came when a man named Caesar Rodney mounted his horse in Dover, Delaware…

…and rode 80 miles through the night to Philadelphia.

He arrived exhausted, mud-soaked, and just in time to cast the deciding vote that pushed Delaware in favor of independence.

That vote mattered.

But here’s what we forget:

👉 That ride didn’t happen in a vacuum.

It happened over a year after the first sparks of revolution had already been lit.

Because before Caesar Rodney rode for a vote…
another rider had already ridden for a warning.

His name was Paul Revere.

On the night of April 18, 1775, Revere set out on what would become one of the most famous rides in American history.

Not to declare independence.
Not to win a war.
But to deliver a message:

👉 The British were coming.

Or more accurately…

👉 The “Regulars” were on the move.

They weren’t shouting about freedom yet.
They weren’t signing documents.
They were warning each other.

Preparing.
Getting ready for what they knew was coming.
And the very next morning…

Shots were fired at Lexington and Concord.

The Revolutionary War had begun.

But here’s the part that matters for us today:

👉 Independence did not come the next day.

It didn’t come the next month.
It didn’t even come the next year.

Let’s slow this timeline down for just a moment:

1. April 1775 → The first shots are fired

2. July 1776 → The Declaration of Independence is signed

3. 1783 → The Treaty of Paris officially ends the war

That’s:

👉 Over a year from the first shot to the declaration
👉 Eight years from the first shot to victory

And in between?

Uncertainty.
Disagreement.
Setbacks.
Sacrifice.

There were moments when it looked like it wouldn’t work.

Moments when people disagreed on strategy.
Moments when leaders hesitated.
Moments when the outcome was anything but guaranteed.

But they didn’t quit.

They didn’t expect instant results.

And they didn’t confuse the start of the fight with the end of the mission.

Why Patriots’ Day Still Matters

Patriots’ Day isn’t just about Paul Revere.

It’s about what his ride represents.

It was a beginning.
A signal.
A moment where ordinary people realized:

👉 Something is happening… and we have a role to play.

Revere didn’t finish the fight that night.
Rodney didn’t finish it with his vote.
And the men who signed the Declaration didn’t finish it with their signatures.

Each moment was a step.
Each act required courage.
And each one depended on people who were willing to do their part…

even when the outcome wasn’t immediate.

A Reminder for Us

We’re living in a time where everyone wants resolution now.

We want the vote to flip overnight.
The system to be fixed in one cycle.
The problems to disappear with one decision.

But history doesn’t work like that.

And neither does self-government.

If the founding generation had expected immediate victory…
they never would have made it past Lexington.

If they had quit after a year…
there would have been no Declaration.

If they had grown weary after setbacks…
there would have been no Treaty of Paris.

The Real Lesson of the Ride

Paul Revere’s ride wasn’t the victory.

It was the beginning of responsibility.
A call to action.

A moment that said:

👉 Pay attention.
👉 Get ready.
👉 Do your part.

And that same call still exists today.

Not for one night.
Not for one vote.
But for the long, steady work of preserving what was built.

Because freedom was never won in a moment.

It was built over time…
by people who showed up when it mattered.
